Use MARFOR from Claude

The MARFOR connector lets Claude read your projects, forecasts and scenarios, prepare budget changes with a dry run, and publish dashboards. Claude asks for your approval before anything in MARFOR changes.

What the connector does

MARFOR is a web app for marketing mix modeling built on PyMC. It estimates the incremental effect of each marketing channel, forecasts results with P10–P90 ranges and plans budgets with scenarios and an optimizer. The connector gives Claude access to your MARFOR account:

  • Explore. List your projects and their datasets — data sources, forecasts and scenarios — with exact metric and dimension names and date ranges.
  • Analyze. Get aggregated figures by channel, region or any other dimension for any period. These are the same numbers as the pivot table in MARFOR.
  • Plan. Prepare scenario edits such as “raise paid search by 10% in November 2026”, preview them in a dry run, and apply them after your approval. MARFOR recalculates the dependent metrics, just as when you edit a cell in the app.
  • Report. List your dashboards, write a dashboard page from HTML, and publish a dashboard at a private link.
  • Get help. Find answers in the MARFOR help center, see the next step for your project, and send a request to MARFOR support.

Claude sees only what your MARFOR account can see. The connector can't create projects, upload data, change sharing, make payments or delete projects — you do those on marfor.pro.

Before you start

  • A MARFOR account with at least one project that has data. A free plan is available — sign up. The connector can't upload data, so for a new account, create a project and upload a file on the site first.
  • Claude on the web, desktop or mobile app, or Claude Code. Connectors work on all Claude plans; on the Free plan you can add one custom connector.

Connect

Server URL, if you need it:

MCP server URL https://marfor.pro/api/mcp

From the Claude connectors directory

  1. In Claude, open Customize › Connectors and select Discover.
  2. Search for MARFOR and open its listing.
  3. Select Connect to Claude. The MARFOR sign-in page opens: in the same tab on claude.ai, or in your browser if you use the desktop app.
  4. Sign in to MARFOR if you aren't signed in yet.
  5. Review the access screen, Connect Claude to MARFOR. It shows the MARFOR account you are signed in as, the application asking for access and where the access will go (claude.ai). It also lists what Claude will be able to do — read your projects, datasets, forecasts, scenarios and dashboards; apply scenario edits and publish dashboards — and what it won't: manage sharing or access tokens, make payments or delete projects. Select Allow.
  6. Back in Claude, MARFOR appears under Your connectors as Connected.

By URL, as a custom connector

Use this if MARFOR isn't in the directory for you yet.

  1. Open Customize › Connectors and select Add custom connector.
  2. Enter the server URL https://marfor.pro/api/mcp and select Add.
  3. Select Connect, sign in to MARFOR and select Allow on the access screen, as described above.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds the connector for the organization in Organization settings › Connectors (Add › Custom › Web). Members then find it under Customize › Connectors and select Connect.

In Claude Code

Connectors you add on claude.ai are available in Claude Code when you sign in with the same Claude account. To add MARFOR to Claude Code directly, run:

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http marfor https://marfor.pro/api/mcp

Then type /mcp in Claude Code, choose marfor and sign in. The access screen will say the access goes to a program on this computer — allow it only if you started this connection yourself just now.

Turn it on in a conversation

In a chat, select + › Connectors and make sure the MARFOR toggle is on. Then ask for something from your MARFOR account.

Example prompts

Use the names of your own projects, scenarios and metrics — Claude looks up the exact names in your account.

“Which MARFOR projects do I have, and what data is in the first one?”

Claude uses
marfor_projects, marfor_datasets — read only
You get
Your projects with your access level in each (owner, editor or viewer), then the project's data sources, forecasts and scenarios with their dataset IDs.

“In my 2026 budget scenario, show monthly revenue and marketing spend by channel for Q3 2026.”

Claude uses
marfor_describe, marfor_query — read only
You get
A table by month and channel with the exact metric names from your project. The numbers match the pivot table in MARFOR for the same filters and period.

“Raise the paid search budget by 10% for November 2026 in that scenario. Show me the dry run first.”

Claude uses
marfor_query to read current values, marfor_apply_values with a dry run, then — after you approve — the same tool to apply, and marfor_job_status
You get
A before → after table for every slice it will change, and nothing changes yet. When you confirm, Claude asks your permission to run the write, MARFOR applies the edit and recalculates the dependent metrics, and Claude reports how many slices were updated.

“Publish my ‘Q4 plan’ dashboard and give me a private link.”

Claude uses
marfor_bi_dashboards, then marfor_bi_publish after your approval
You get
A link with a random, unguessable address that anyone you send it to can open. Ask Claude to unpublish it at any time.

“I uploaded my first file to MARFOR. What should I do next?”

Claude uses
marfor_next_step, marfor_help — read only
You get
The stage your project is at — for example, columns still need mapping — the next step with a link to the right page, and the help article with the exact button names.

Always give a year. An edit for “November” without a year changes November in every year of the scenario. Say “November 2026” or give a date range.

Tools and permissions

Tools marked Changes data are annotated as destructive, so by default Claude asks for your approval before each call. Read-only tools can run without asking. You can change this for each tool in Customize › Connectors › MARFOR › Tool permissions: Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked.

Your data

  • Claude sees only what your MARFOR account can see, and your plan's limits apply.
  • Each tool call sends MARFOR only the tool name and its arguments. The connector doesn't receive your conversation, and it never reads Claude's memory, chat history, conversation summaries or files.
  • MARFOR logs each call without its content: time, tool, outcome, duration, account, connection and application IDs, and IP address. Help questions and support requests are kept so we can answer them.
  • Results returned by the connector become part of your Claude conversation.

Details are in the MARFOR Privacy Policy.

Revoke access

  • In Claude: open Customize › Connectors, select MARFOR and choose Disconnect. To remove it completely, open the ⋯ menu and select Remove.
  • In MARFOR: open Account, section Connect Claude (MCP). Under Connected from Claude (OAuth), select Revoke next to the connection. Access stops immediately, and Claude can't use the connection again.
  • Block single tools: set a tool to Blocked in Tool permissions.

Unused connections expire on their own. When a connection has expired or was revoked, MARFOR shows Reconnect in Claude — select it to sign in again.

Troubleshooting

  • “Couldn't reach the MCP server”. Check the URL: it is https://marfor.pro/api/mcp, not /mcp.
  • “Authorization failed”, or MARFOR shows Reconnect. Sign in again. Access may have been revoked or may have expired.
  • Claude says a feature isn't available on your plan. This is a plan limit. See your plan on the Account page.
  • “Project not found or no access”. Ask Claude “Which MARFOR account am I connected as?” to check the account. Access to someone else's project is granted by its owner.
  • Claude finds no projects. The account is new: create a project and upload data on marfor.pro, then ask again.
  • The numbers differ from the screen. Ask Claude to show the filters and period it used, and compare them with the pivot table.

Support

Email support@marfor.pro, or tell Claude “report this to MARFOR support”. Claude shows you the text of the request first and sends it only after you confirm; you get a ticket number.

Prefer to run MARFOR's MCP client on your own computer, with file exports for your own dashboards? See the local MCP client page.
